Today, we would like to introduce one of our new staff members, Cyrus Harris! Mr. Harris was a substitute teacher for us last year, and plans to work towards a degree in Elementary Education.
Mr. Harris' favorite foods are Mexican and his grandma's lasagna! He enjoys studying the Bible, helping out at his church when he can, and hanging out with friends and family.
When asked why he chose Steelville School District, he answered, "I have lived in Steelville my entire life, and attended Pre-K through 12th grade here. I experienced various types of teachers during that time, and I want to work on giving back to the next generation as a staff member in the same community I grew up in. I want to have an outstanding impact on the next generation, as many of my teachers did for me."

Please see the following message from Mr. Hammonds regarding your students' Spring 2024 MAP/EOC Assessment scores:
July 11 th , 2024
The MAP and EOC is designed to measure how well students acquire the
skills and knowledge described in Missouri’s Learning Standards (MLS). The
assessments yield information on academic achievement at the student, class,
school, district, and state levels. This information is used to diagnose individual
student strengths and weaknesses in relation to the instruction of the MLS, and to
gauge the overall quality of education throughout Missouri.
Parents and Guardians of Students may pick up your students individual
MAP/EOC assessment scores at the beginning of the 24-25 academic school year
in each of following locations:
Last year’s 3 rd Grade (This Year’s 4 th Grade) may pick up their MAP assessment
scores up at the Steelville Elementary Office at the start of the school year.
Last year’s 4 th (This Year’s 5 th Grade) through 7 th Grade may pick up MAP
assessment scores up at the Middle School Office at the start of the school year.
Last year’s 8 th Grade (This Year’s Freshman), Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry,
Biology, English 1, English 2, and Government may pick up assessment scores at
the High School Office at the start of the school year.
Assessments may also be picked up during your child’s Parent Teacher Conference
on October 28 th .

Today, we would like to "introduce" Mrs. Melina Vernon! Mrs. Vernon will be returning to Steelville Elementary School this year to teach, and we are excited to welcome her back!
Mrs. Vernon's favorite foods are Mexican, Chinese, and any food that she doesn't have to cook. Her hobbies include needle felting, weaving, working with wool, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.
We asked why Mrs. Vernon chose to return to Steelville, and she answered, "This is my home school. I love this school and I love this community."

Our High School Boys' Basketball team has been hard at work this summer with practices, weight lifting, and camps! Basketball season may not start for several months, but these boys will be ready!











This month, we would like to introduce you to our brand new staff members!
We'll start off with Sarah Baker and Mookie! Mrs. Baker (and her therapy dog, Mookie!) will be filling the role of Counselor at Steelville Middle School. She loves spending time with her family and reading, and Mookie loves walks and naps! Her favorite foods are Cheez-Its, Tacos, Casey's Pizza, and Pad Thai, and Mookie LOVES Peanut Butter and Bacon!!!
When asked why Mrs. Baker chose to come to Steelville, she answered, "Steelville School District has been very welcoming, and has had wonderful teachers/staff members for my children. I want to be a part of this strong team and be a bigger part of this community."

We would like to welcome Candice Richter to our coaching staff! Mrs. Richter serves as our elementary school principal, and will be coaching girls basketball at the high school. We are very excited for our basketball team and the Cardinals family!
