The high school held its monthly Rising Higher - Soaring Together assembly. During the assembly, the cheerleaders, poms, basketball, and wrestling teams were recognized as their season officially started today.
Two students from each grade and a staff member who personified the November Character Trait of the Month, gratitude, were also recognized. The winners are freshmen Jessica LaForet and Caden Collinson; sophomores Ella Olms and Keagan Hudson; juniors Elayna Vehrs and Blake Alexander; and seniors Shawntae Roper (will update picture) and Carter Mason. The staff member is Mr. Josh Pritchett.
From Mrs. Martin's Kindergarten Classroom: Today we concluded our activities about gratitude with a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. My kindergarten students shared with classmates why they are thankful for them and enjoyed eating the same foods Charlie Brown and his friends ate at their Thanksgiving feast.
SES 1st graders started off the day right with a Thanksgiving Breakfast!
Mrs. Setzer’s first grade class had a fun day of investigating pumpkins. Students did sink or float, measured height and width using cubes and paper clips and then got messy counting seeds. Great day of learning!

Hey, Cardinals! SHS Boys' and Girls' basketball plays tonight at Dixon at 5pm! There will be 1/2 a JV Girls' game, then Varsity Girls, then JV Boys, and finally Varsity Boys! Bring a new toy in original packaging as your admission to support Dixon's Toys for Tots Toy Drive!
Today, Ms. Cottrell's 1st grade students completed a pumpkin investigation. Ms. Cottrell said, "We measured, weighed, and tested if our pumpkins would sink or float. My students had a blast!!"
