Good afternoon, Cardinals! Mr. Vetter and Mrs. Cottrell have been out driving all of our bus routes this afternoon, and unfortunately, the thick ice on many of our secondary roads just isn't melting enough to allow safe passage of our school busses. As a result, there will be no school for Steelville tomorrow, Thursday, January 16th. Our staff and students' safety is and always will be our #1 priority, and we are so appreciative of how understanding our community has been during this winter weather event! Stay safe!

Dear Students, Parents, and Staff,
Due to the school being closed for the past week and a half because of hazardous secondary road conditions, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our Homecoming festivities. The new date for Homecoming will be announced at a later date.
However, the Friday night game against St. James on January 17, 2025 is still currently on. While there will be no Homecoming festivities on this date, we encourage everyone to come out and support our team.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support. Let's show our Cardinal Pride and cheer on our athletes!

We hope that all of our Cardinals have enjoyed the snow as much as Mookie, our SMS therapy dog, has! While the snow has been fun, we are more than ready to get back to school here at Steelville! Here's to hoping that beautiful sun does some good melting throughout the day... Mr. Vetter and Mrs. Cottrell will be checking those secondary roads once the sun has had enough time to work today. Check back for an update later this afternoon regarding whether or not we'll be in session tomorrow! Stay warm out there!!!

Winter Weather Watch!
As we anticipate the probability of winter weather this weekend, we want to assure our families that we are closely monitoring the situation. The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority.
When making decisions about school closures, we consider a range of factors, including:
Road conditions: We assess road conditions throughout the district, including all bus routes.
Parking lot safety: We evaluate the safety of our school parking lots and sidewalks.
Weather forecasts: We carefully monitor weather predictions throughout the day and evening.
While we strive to maintain a regular school schedule, we will not hesitate to cancel school if conditions pose a safety risk.
